The Troupe's History
The Hummingbird dance troupe of Oshawa was formed by Ron Mathlin in 1981 with eight girls. The troupe has grown considerably since then; there are now thirty members. There are various levels and age groups: primary, junior, intermediate and senior. The Dancers have performed throughout Durham Region, Metropolitan Toronto, and London, Ontario, at Folk festivals, Cultural events, mall openings, school fairs, weddings, anniversaries and senior citizens' homes. They have also done performances at the Rogers Centre and for the Ontario Summer Games. The dance troupe is part of the youth program sponsored by Club Carib of Oshawa Inc.
